History example
1660
Georg Camitz, a nobleman who immigrated from Silesia, received a privilege from the Bergskollegium to establish a hammer with two hearths by the salmon-rich Letälven river. The ironworks were set up at Degerforsen, “the great rapids”.

1666
Camitz received permission to build an additional hammer with one hearth, known as the Upper Works, in contrast to the first, called the Lower Works.

Mid-1850s
Technological improvements were made by replacing older methods with the Lancashire forging process. A blast furnace, two hammers, and six Lancashire hearths were added, along with roughing and finishing mills that annually rolled 4,500 tons.

1870
Degerfors AB is founded, after being a family-owned business for 200 years.

1883
The entire Degerfors Ironworks was destroyed by a fire.

1895
A new era began when manager Ernst Odelberg took over, transforming the works into a large industry that produced 15,000 tons annually by the turn of the century.

1931
The stainless steel development started together with Uddeholms AB.

1968
Stainless steel melting began in Degerfors.

1977
Stainless steel billet rolling began.

1986
The unit Long Products in Degerfors was founded with Elisabeth Torsner as manager.

2003
Outkompu acquires all shares in Avesta Sheffield AB.

2015
Extra finishing capacity was added with the acquisition of the Storfors facility.

2022
Outokumpu Long Products AB is established.

2023
Outokumpu Long Products AB is sold to Cogne Acciai Speciali S.p.A and renamed Cogne Degerfors Long Products AB (Cogne DLP). Thus, a new era begins!
